Project Type: Immediate Relief
Local Partner: Instituto Arte no Dique
Funded by: Chubb

WATERisLIFE expanded its LIFE Program in Dique da Vila Gilda, the largest informal stilt settlement in Brazil, home to over 26,000 people and facing extreme water vulnerability and poor sanitation conditions. In partnership with Instituto Arte no Dique and with support from Chubb, 400 ultrafiltration bucket filters were distributed to 400 households, reaching approximately 1,600 people—primarily children. Magic Straw Distribution in Diani Schools

Ukunda, Diani, Kenya
2024
Impact: 600 students across 3 schools

Project Type: Immediate Relief
Funded by: WATERisLIFE

WATERisLIFE distributed Magic Straw personal water filters to three primary schools in Diani, providing over 600 children with access to safe drinking water during school hours. Prior to the initiative, students relied on untreated water sources, leading to frequent illness and missed classes.

The project was part of WATERisLIFE’s Immediate Relief program, which addressed urgent WASH needs. It was carried out in collaboration with BottleN30 volunteers, who participated in both distribution and educational activities with the schools.

Safe Water for Riverside Communities in the Amazon

Brazilian Amazon
2025
Impact: 400 people

Project Type: Immediate Relief
Local Partner: WATERisLIFE Brazil
Funded by: WATERisLIFE

In 2025, WATERisLIFE distributed 100 ultrafiltration bucket filters to remote riverside communities in the Brazilian Amazon, where families rely on contaminated river water or spend a significant portion of their income on bottled water. These communities, often isolated and accessible only by boat, face persistent challenges in securing safe drinking water.

Despite the logistical difficulties, WATERisLIFE—with the help of the Brazil team and local partners—successfully reached the households. The filters now allow families to collect water directly from the river and safely filter it at home—improving health, reducing costs, and strengthening local resilience.

While water access in the Amazon remains a complex issue, this intervention marks an important step forward for families living in one of the most underserved regions of the country.
