Safe Water for Riverside Communities in the Amazon

Brazilian Amazon
2025
Impact: 400 people

Project Type: Immediate Relief
Local Partner: WATERisLIFE Brazil
Funded by: WATERisLIFE

In 2025, WATERisLIFE distributed 100 ultrafiltration bucket filters to remote riverside communities in the Brazilian Amazon, where families rely on contaminated river water or spend a significant portion of their income on bottled water. These communities, often isolated and accessible only by boat, face persistent challenges in securing safe drinking water.

Despite the logistical difficulties, WATERisLIFE—with the help of the Brazil team and local partners—successfully reached the households. The filters now allow families to collect water directly from the river and safely filter it at home—improving health, reducing costs, and strengthening local resilience.

While water access in the Amazon remains a complex issue, this intervention marks an important step forward for families living in one of the most underserved regions of the country.

Corporate Volunteer Program –
Safe Water Distribution in Informal Settlement

Viña del Mar, Chile
2025
Impact: 240+ people

Project Type: Immediate Relief and Corporate Volunteering
Local Partner: Municipality of Viña del Mar
Funded by: Ripley Chile

In 2025, WATERisLIFE collaborated with Ripley Chile and the Municipality of Viña del Mar to deliver safe drinking water to the informal settlement of Parcela 11 through a corporate volunteer program. The community lacks reliable access to clean water, with many families relying on irregular water deliveries and unsafe storage conditions.

A total of 34 Ripley Chile employees volunteered on the ground, working alongside municipal staff and WATERisLIFE to distribute 60 ultrafiltration bucket filters. The initiative directly benefited more than 240 people, providing families with a simple and effective solution for filtering water at home. The Municipality of Viña del Mar played a key role in coordinating with the local community, ensuring smooth implementation and long-term follow-up.

Safe Water for Villas de Ancón

Lima, Peru
2025
Impact: 200+ people

Project Type: Immediate Relief and Corporate Volunteering
Local Partner: Fundación Juguete Pendiente
Funded by: Ripley Perú

In 2025, WATERisLIFE partnered with Ripley Perú and local NGO Fundación Juguete Pendiente to carry out a corporate volunteer initiative in Villas de Ancón, a community on the outskirts of Lima with no access to a public water network. Residents rely entirely on water trucks, which often deliver only once a week—or in some cases, every nine days. When water is delivered, families rush to fill as many containers as possible, where the water often sits stagnant for days, increasing the risk of waterborne illnesses.

As part of the program, Ripley volunteers distributed 50 household ultrafiltration bucket systems, providing over 200 people with immediate access to safe drinking water. The experience not only brought meaningful impact to the community but also offered company staff a powerful way to engage in hands-on, purpose-driven work.
