WATERisLIFE partnered with the Office of the First Lady, Gabriela de Bukele, to deliver emergency safe water solutions to schools in the La Paz department. By distributing Magic Straw personal filtration systems, 1,500 people—mostly children—gained immediate access to clean drinking water. In many parts of the region, families rely on costly bottled water or unsafe sources. The availability of this simple filtration technology helped protect against waterborne diseases while easing the financial burden on vulnerable households.

WATERisLIFE responded to the humanitarian crisis caused by Hurricane Beryl, which left many communities in Grenada without access to essential services, including clean drinking water. In partnership with Third Wave Volunteers and Dr. Alison Thompson, 400 individual Magic Straw filters were distributed on the island of Carriacou. This portable filtration technology provided immediate access to safe water for 400 people, helping to prevent disease outbreaks and support recovery efforts in one of the hardest-hit areas.

WATERisLIFE implemented an integrated water and nutrition program in Haiti, in partnership with the Chilean NGO Leche para Haití and with funding from Betterfly. The initiative focused on distributing 3,000 personal Magic Straw filters to schools and communities in the districts of Anse-à-Pitre and Belle-Anse, ensuring daily access to clean drinking water for thousands of children and families.

In Hinche, the program demonstrated exceptional results. Within three months, severe malnutrition among children dropped from 7.1% to 0%, and nearly half (47.7%) reached an optimal nutritional state. As noted by Dr. María Paz Guzmán, who led the health monitoring, “In 15 years of work, this is the first time we’ve seen results of this magnitude in such a short period.”

In 2023, WATERisLIFE carried out a corporate volunteering initiative alongside Betterfly employees to deliver access to safe water in informal settlements in Viña del Mar. In coordination with the Viña del Mar Municipal Council, 400 household ultrafiltration bucket filters were distributed—one per household—ensuring clean and reliable drinking water for more than 1,600 people. The initiative included hands-on training for families on filter use and maintenance, reinforcing both health and community resilience.
